Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie

Winging it again this morning!  Had some fruit I needed to use before it went bad.  Here’s what you get this morning.

Strawberry Kiwi Smoothie

1 cup apple juice

1 kiwi (peeled and sliced)

2 cups strawberries (I used a few fresh but mostly frozen.)

1 banana (peeled and sliced)

1/2 cup yogurt

Start with the apple juice then gradually blend ingredients, blending in between.  This was pretty tasty.  Both kids liked it but mentioned it was pretty tangy.

Kiwi provides 16% of the RDA for fiber and has a role in the prevention of constipation and some cancers.


One cup of strawberries contains 21% of manganese, an essential nutrient that acts as a powerful antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. By increasing the levels of superoxide dismutase (SOD), the enzyme responsible for protecting mitochondria exposed to oxygen, manganese not only helps to fight the battle against free radicals and oxidative stress, but also lessens cellular inflammation — another cause of numerous cardiovascular diseases.
